After leaving Nicosia and passing by Lakatameia, Deftera, and Psimolofou we reach Pera. After a double turn we arrive at Episkopeio. The first turn on our left leads to Politiko.
Crossing over the bridge of the river Pediaios, the verdant valley of Politiko spreads before us.

In front of us we first find the restaurant "I Gefyra" (The Bridge). The first turn on our left leads to the archaeological site of Tamasos. The ruins of Tamasos with the temple of Artemis, the walls of the city's entrance, the ruins of the hostels at the city's gate, the remains of the workshops, the aqueduct, and the luxuriant tombs will take the visitor several centuries back.

We return to the main road, turn left from the T formed by the street, turn right. At a distance of about 500 meters and on our left, we see the small church of St Mnason's abandoned monastery upon a hill. We turn back toward the village and ascend toward the plaza. We find on our left a small archaeological park, which was constructed by the Antiquities Department in an effort to attract people passing by. Right across is the Youth Centre of Politiko. A group of youths from the village founded the Y.C. of Politiko in 1981, seeing there was a need to operate some organisation in the community that would offer -to them -some moments of relaxation and -to the community -that something which was missing all these years. Today it is used to host various events.

Advancing we come across the village's coffee-house on our left, which along with the Youth Centre are the only entertainment spots in the community. The plaza, which formerly hosted unforgettable moments of fun and recreation, is in need of aid for reformation.

Ascending to the left we see the village's elementary school across from us. It is built upon the top of a hill and towers over the village. The first school is dated back to 1923. It has a rich library with several old books, the oldest one being "The History of the Athenians-Turkish Domination" of 1889. The school had taken its present form in 1968, the last addition -made this year -being the children's playground. For three years now, our school is a member of the ecological schools.

Before the turn on our left lies the construction site of the new community palace, hosting among others a Health Centre, a library, and a museum. Right across are the premises of our community's co-op foundations. The Co-op Credit Society (CCS) was renovated in 2001 and with computerisation it now offers all sorts of banking services to its members. It also has storage areas with agricultural utilities.

A bit below to the left we see the monastery of St. Eracleidios (see Churches). Behind St. Erecleidios's monastery lies the "Rock of the Saint" ("Rotsos tou Agiou"), a large stone standing on its one end. Tradition reports that the Saint, in order to protect the inhabitants, threw it against the Saracens that were entering the village. Going downhill, we see on our right the church of St. Theodore of Tamasos (see Churches).

In the background and next to the road lies the village's old fountain. The fountain was made with a donation of Archbishop Chrysanthos and was later renovated with expenses paid by the village's inhabitants. A permanent request of the village's inhabitants for the area's regeneration "falls on deaf ears".

Historical communities such as ours need to be given more prestige by the State.
